A 22-year old student has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly having sex with an eight-year-old girl at Sukura in Accra.
Samuel Bobi charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.
Meanwhile, the victim, according to the facts narrated by the prosecution, claims that the accused has been having sex with her over the past two years.
The court admitted Bobi to bail in the sum of ¢60,000 with three sureties.
Two of the sureties must be justified with two landed properties worth ¢60,000.
The court ruled that the title deed and valuation report covering the properties should be deposited at the Court’s Registry pending the final determination of the case.
The prosecution was ordered to file witness statements and all documents they intended to rely on and the same should be served on the accused.
The matter has been adjourned to March 24.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, said the complainant is a 60-year old trader and grandmother of the victim.
He said Bobi is a nephew of the complainant and that all three reside in the same house at Sukura.
The prosecution said during the month of February, this year, the victim confided in a taxi driver name withheld that Bobi has been having sex with her for about two years now whenever the complainant was not around.
The prosecution said the taxi driver informed the complainant and when the victim was questioned she confirmed it.
The prosecution said when the accused was asked by the complainant whether he has been having sex with the victim he admitted it.
He said a report was made to the Police and a medical report form was given to the complainant to seek medical care for the victim.
The prosecution said Bobi was arrested and when cautioned he admitted the offence.
