A member of opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Covid-19 technical team has challenged government to release the number of medical personnel trained on how to handle the Covid-19 cases.
Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah said their findings show that “some district hospital staff and local clinical staff have not been trained on what to look for and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).”
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, the Public Health Expert also called on government to disclose the specific level of training received by the health personnel.
“We also ask for accurate information on how many more medical staff are left to be trained and what specific training are they currently receiving.
“As part of the public tracing agencies we need to know the role of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies,” she said.
She said Ghanaians also need to know the role of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in this fight.
“We need to know what specific help they have received from government in terms of logistics and resources to help them do better and quicker public education,” she stated.
