The “Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home” presented by YouTube & ViacomCBS Networks Africa in partnership with Idris Elba will feature the biggest names in African music along with global superstar presenters to celebrate Africa Day.
The Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home will be a 2-hour special that will broadcast to millions of viewers in Africa and around the world on MTV and BET at 7 pm.
The two-hour special aims to not only entertain viewers at home but also to raise funds that will support food and health needs for children and families in Africa affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
All proceeds pre and post the virtual concert will be directed to The World Food Programme and UNICEF who have joined forces in support of those most impacted by Covid-19.
“We are excited to celebrate Africa month as a continent, and there is no better way to celebrate our beautiful and vibrant continent than with music, the one universal language. Viewers can enjoy their favourite artist in the comfort of their home,” says Cecil Sunkwa Mills MD, MultiChoice Ghana.
The humanitarian concert, which will be hosted by Hollywood superstar Idris Elba, will feature star-studded special appearances from Trevor Noah and performances from African legends Salif Keita, Angelique Kidjo, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Ismael Lo together with some of the most talented artists across the continent.
This includes Burna Boy, Stonebwoy, Tiwa Savage, Sho Madjozi, Davido, AKA and Tiwa Savage with newly announced performances from Drizilik, James Bks, Wavy Boy Smith, M.anifest and more who are uniting to commemorate Africa Day and provide hope and inspiration during Covid-19.
