The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Greater Accra Region has extended its felicitation to all Muslims in Ghana especially those in the Greater Accra region for the successful completion of the month-long fasting and prayer.
"As we congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters for going through one of the cardinal Islamic rituals of the month of Ramadan, it is with a heart full of gratification that we aspire to join in the celebration of the Eid-ul Fitr scheduled for the 24th of May, 2020.
"In recognition of its significance, we shall always stand in alliance with our Muslim brothers and sisters in such moments of solemnity that seek to gravitate our being towards God."
An official statement signed by Jerry Johnson, the Regional Communication Officer of NDC and copied the GNA in Accra said.
It said as the prophet Mohammed (SAW) said "anybody who strictly observes the rituals of the month of Ramadan successfully, will come out with all his sins forgiven. It is our fervent hope that the month-long religious abstinence observed by Muslims world over, will refine us and be the point of invocation of peace and unity among our diverse religious and ethnic society."
The statement said: "NDC as a party is known to have strong allegiance with the Muslim and the Northern communities in Ghana. As such, the Regional Secretariat of the party wishes to re-dedicate its commitment to the existing solidarity with the people of Ghana in times of religious activities like Ramadan.
"We finally call on all Ghanaians to give meaning to the benefits realized from the occasion of Ramadan, by protecting the democratic gains and the national peace as we go into the December 2020 elections," it added.
