The Minority in Parliament says the president’s ordering the Auditor General to proceed on leave is an attempt by government to cover up alleged corruption associated with Covid-19 spending.
The Vice-Chairman of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Edward Kaale-Ewola Dery said the Akufo-Addo government feels threatened by the presence of Daniel Yao Domelevo due to its alleged corrupt practices.
The Presidency in a statement on Monday ordered Mr Domelevo to take his 123 leave days effective July 1.
But speaking to Joy News, the Lambussie MP, said the president is unhappy with Mr Domelevo surcharging the Senior Minister in the Kroll and Associates Limited deal.
He added that the president’s action it’s a clear indication that the NPP government has failed in the fight against corruption.
But the Deputy Majority Whip, Matthew Nyindam disagreed with the claims of a cover-up by government.
He added that the Acting Deputy Auditor General and the entire Audit Service as an institution is competent enough to work in the absence of Mr Domelevo.
