The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed two staff arrested in the Northern Region for illegally registering applicants in the on-going voter registration exercise.
The culprits, Mumuni Abilla Yussif; 26, and Mohammad Yushaw Kongsoha; 32, were arrested on Friday morning in their homes after police received a tip-off about their activities.
In a statement copied to JoyNews Saturday, the EC says the two are temporary staff.
“The Commission is currently working with the Security Agencies to ensure that the suspects are made to face the full rigorous of the law.
“The Officials have been relieved of their posts pending investigations. Meanwhile, the Registration Kit used for the alleged illegal registration remains in police custody,” the statement added.
The Commission assured the general public that it will not shield any of its staff, temporary or permanent, who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
