Two multinational organizations working in the Eastern Region as development partners have supported the Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
World Vision supported the Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, Fanteakwa North and South health directorate and the district Assembly.
The support came after these districts recorded some cases of Covid-19 and five other health service providers got infected at the Begoro district hospital in line of duty.
World vision presented 249 pieces of hand sanitizer, 203 disposable hand gloves, 230 boxes of face masks, 100 overall coat, 33 infrared thermometers, six sanitizer dispensers, 200 goggles, 57 gallons of liquid soaps, 100 automated handwashing machine among other Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
Cluster manager for the Fanteakwa Development area of World Vision Mr Christopher Teye disclosed that, the items would be sent directly to the Frontline institutions to ensure that it is available for those who need it most.
He said, some of the hand washing machines would be placed within selected communities to promote personal hygiene.
Meanwhile, Plan International have also presented 58 Tecky tab hand washing facilities and boxes of sanitizers to the Regional Directorate of the Ghana education service.
The donation is to complement effort to promote personal hygiene in schools in the wake of Covid-19.
According to Kofi Adade Debra the Plan International-Ghana Programs Unit Manager - Eastern Region, the automated hand washing machine enables one to wash his or her hands without touching the device.
He said, Plan International had prior to this donation presented Personal Protective Equipments to all the health facilities in Akuapem North, Upper Manya and the Okere districts.
The Organization have also distributed reusable sanitary pads in 12 schools in the upper Manya Krobo district to promote menstrual hygiene.
The lower Manya and Yilo Krobo districts have also benefited from some PPEs from Plan International.
Mr. Debra hinted, In order to keep people in business during the Covid-19 era, Plan International Ghana have also trained some women in the production of nose Mask, reusable sanitary pads, liquid soaps and bar soaps.
They believe the production of these hygiene items would boost the local economy of these rural folks.
He however, advice parents and stakeholders not to mount pressure on government to release final year student from school due to the isolated infection cases in some schools.
He said government must stick to the expert advice and ensure proper management of the situation.
