The Deputy Communications Minister has described as tragic what he says is an attempt by former President John Dramani Mahama to resort to falsehood and name-calling for political gains.
Pius Hadzide said the former president's recent post of the "Tragedies of Akufo-Addo's government" has peddled falsehood in a bid to win the votes of Ghanaian. This he says is unfortunate.
"What is rather tragic is the attempt by the former president to resort to name-calling, running down of state institutions and sometimes peddling of outright falsehoods in a bid to gain political attraction and to win the votes of Ghanaians," he told JoyNews' Araba Koomson on the Election Brief on Friday.
His comments come after former President John Mahama in a recent post outlined what he described as some flaws of President Akufo-Addo.
According to John Mahama's President Akufo-Addo has set the country's democracy 28 years back by running down and politicising state institutions.
Mr Mahama also accused the President of wasting tax payers' monies by abandoning projects started by the Mahama administration.
He further said President Akufo-Addo has also compromised on the independence of state institutions, including the office of the Auditor-General by ordering Daniel Domevelo to proceed on his accumulated leave.
Pius Hadzide however, in defense of his boss, indicated that all these claims by the former President are nothing but falsehood.
He, therefore, says the NPP will commit to promoting their party with their track record rather than resorting to name-calling.
"We are guided by the admonishing of his Excellency the President that this year's electioneering campaign should be about the track record; the solid track record of competent and solid governance which is reflecting on the ground and we will live away from such baseless and groundless allegations as has been made by the former President John Dramani Mahama," he said.
