Some Assemblymembers in the Northern Region have thrown their support behind the 2020 flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the December 7 polls.
The group called the Concern Assembly Members Association of Ghana (CAMAG), say their support for Mr. Mahama stems from his policy to pay assembly members a monthly allowance if voted into power.

Speaking at a press conference in Tamale to re-affirm the group position, the Northern Regional Coordinator of CAMAG, Mohammed Mutala lauded Mr. Mahama for the idea.
He questioned critics in government who argue that the policy is not feasible.

Mr. Mutala said the policy is in the interest of all assembly members thus cautioning members not to let their political colors cloud their judgment on a policy meant for their well-being.

Mr. Mohammed Mutala also called on Ghanaians to support Mr. Mahama and the NDC‘s agenda towards the welfare of assembly members.

The National Coordinator of CAMAG, David Atta Twum gave a projection of how Mr. Mahama can raise money to fulfill his promise of paying a total of 9,079 assembly members.

According to him, if in 2021, Mr Mahama decides to have 100 minister and 1,000 presidential staffers instead of the current figure of 125 ministers and 1,632 Presidential staffers under the Akufo-Addo government, he could raise the money.
