The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that seven players of the Black Princesses (U-20 women’s team) and Black Maidens (U-17 women’s team) have tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the Association, the affected players have been isolated.

Joy Sports understands 61 players reported to camp in Cape Coast last Friday to start preparations for their respective World Cup qualifiers.

Their return to camp announced by President Akufo-Addo in his 14^th update on the country’s enhanced response to the pandemic.

“Yes it is true,” GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum confirmed on Asempa FM, adding that “We should not be worried because the players are fine."

“They are currently in isolation and for now the only thing we can do is to wait for the final report after their mandatory quarantine,” he revealed.

For the U-20 team, their first-round qualifier against Guinea-Bissau have been postponed by CAF due to coronavirus.

Black Princesses were expected to play the first leg in Guinea-Bissau on September 4 with the second leg scheduled for September 11 in Ghana.

CAF have not said anything on the U-17 qualifiers which is expected to commence in October. Ghana face Nigeria in the second round.
