Some schools in the Saboba District of the Northern Region are yet to receive their hot meals promised them by President Akufo-Addo, two days after the food distribution started.
Checks show most students have been looking forward to the hot meal since it was announced that junior high school students would be offered a meal until they finish with their final exam.
At the Saboba D/A Junior High School, some students told JoyNews’ Martina Bugri that most of them did not eat before going to school because they were expecting to be fed.
Others lamented that they were unable to buy food because of the Covid-19 protocols.
“They should try and help us because they said they were going to give us a meal and we did not eat anything,” one female student said.
Another student added, “some of our parents are poor and others are orphans, so if we are coming to school we don’t have money to buy anything."
"We were happy when we heard the president will give us food but in the end, we were disappointed.”
The headmaster of the school, Amuzu Williams, appealed to the authorities for the meals even if it will be provided for only the students they will appreciate
