England-born Ghanaian Tariq Lamptey produced an excellent performance in Brighton’s 3-1 Premier League defeat against Chelsea.
The right-back, who is eligible to play for England or Ghana, was Brighton’s best player against his former employers on Monday night.
He assisted Brighton’s consolation goal scored by Leandro Trossard.
Lamptey had a rating of 7.2 from reputable football statistics website, Whoscored.com. His rating is the best among Brighton players.
But of the two teams, his rating placed him fifth, behind man of the match Kurt Zouma (7.9), Jorginho (7.6), Timo Werner (7.4) and Ngolo Kante (7.3).
Lamptey's performance was also hailed by many on social media.
Born in England, Lamptey is of Ghanaian descent and is eligible to play for the Black Stars. There were reports that Ghana coach CK Akonnor had initiated talks to convince Lamptey to play for Ghana.
Last month he earned a call-up into England U-21, but that won’t affect his chances of playing for the Black Stars, provided the Ghana Football Association (GFA) act fast.
