The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu District in the Volta region has visited the family of the man (Emmanuel Kale) who died at Juapong in the North Tongu district during the riot by the separatist groups.
In a statement by the Police on Friday, the deceased was reported to be a member of the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) that had conducted a simultaneous attack on the Aveyime and Mepe police station in the North Tongu District in the Volta Region.
He is believed to have been caught in the crossfire during the exchange of gunfire with the joint security team which had been deployed to restore calm in the region.
Following news of his death, the MP for the area Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa visited the bereaved family of the late Emmanuel Kale on Tuesday.
During his visit, he promised his party's commitment to making sure that justice is brought to the family.
He also promised to cater to the needs of the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, residents of Juapong are calling on government and the National security adviser to address the situation and restore peace in their community.
“We cannot move out of our own homes, we are under threat. Nana Addo and the National Security advisor must speak so that we can have peace in Juapong.
“Most of the youth are in hideout because wherever you find yourself the security people will pick you and beat you up. Its either they arrest you or beat you up. So you cannot come out, our boys are all leaving in fear.”
In recent developments 31 suspected individuals have been arrested in connection with the disturbance and are currently in police custody. They have been charged on five accounts by state prosecutors at an Accra Circuit court on Monday.
The 31 suspected individuals who were arrested, according to some residents of Juapong, are not the actual people who attacked the Aveyime and Mepe police station on Friday.
“They are not the actual people who committed the crime. The people who committed the crime and blocked the road are people we don’t know from this town.
"They are strangers, they are not one of us. These boys went to the roadside to observe what was happening and they were picked so the National security must look for these people,” he added.
