A VIP bus driver is in a critical condition after robbers shot him in a targeted midnight robbery on the Accra-Kumasi highway near Linda Dor.
The incident which occurred around 01:36 am on Monday left passengers with serious injuries which were inflicted by the attackers.

The KIA bus which bore the inscription ‘Yesu Dea’ with registration number GE 2397-10 was en route to Kumasi from Accra when the incident happened.

Eyewitnesses said the robbers who ambushed the bus rushed to the middle of the street as the vehicle approached and fired a shot at the windscreen.

All passengers on board were robbed of their personal belongings and various amounts of cash. Some of them complained of being manhandled by the thieves.

The Police Highway Patrol team later arrived at the crime scene to put the situation under control.

So far, no arrests have been made yet as the robbers bolted before the arrival of the law enforcers.
