The CEO of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has dismissed claims by the Minority in Parliament that the incumbent government spent $10 million to probe cocoa road project constructed under the Mahama-led administration.
Joseph Boahen Aidoo told Joy News that the Minority have misled Ghanaians on the exact amount government spent to probe the cocoa road projects.
"They are not being factually truthful to Ghanaians. It does not come anywhere near what they are saying. We paid in Ghana cedis and they are making allegations."
Mr Boahen Aidoo challenged all parties involved in the allegations to present specific expenditure the incumbent government undertook.
He believes the spurious allegation are part of the Minority's ploy to force government to make a statement on the subject.
Despite the allegations, Mr Boahen Aidoo refused to disclose any details on the supposed expenditure undertaken by government, except to say, "They have entered the gutters and I wouldn't want to go there."
According to him, there had been an initial report that established ghost roads in the Korkou road project under the Mahama-led government.
He, however, refused to list names of the supposed ghost roads stressing there were overlaps.
The Cocobod CEO stated, "For instance, from here to Circle, the same road was divided into three parts and costing was made. There were some overlaps."
Mr Boahen Aidoo disclosed that road agencies in the country recommended architectural and engineering firm to assist Cocobod in the review.
