Two persons have died and several others injured after a KIA truck loaded with goods ran into traders at the Walewale market in the North East Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the main hospital road which is always overcrowded on market days.
The driver of the car with registration number GR 3052 - 17, was heading to Bolgatanga when he lost control after a brake failure and veered off the road into the market.
An eyewitness told JoyNews that the situation could have been worsened if the vehicle had not plunged into a gutter
Giving more details, the North East Regional Correspondent, Eliasu Tanko said one of the deceased died on the spot whilst the other died when on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
“Currently, three persons are still on admission at the TTH after sustaining severe injuries from the incident,” he said on Joy FM’s Midday Wednesday.
