Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has charged electorates to be vigilant and vote for him during the December 7 elections.

Speaking at a meeting with the Zongo group at Effie in the Western Region, he told the electorates to compare their lives under the four-year leadership of the Akufo-Addo-led government with the NDC tenure.

He stated that electorates showing up in their numbers to vote him back into office will cease what he calls a struggling country caused by the Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“We all have to show up on elections day, be vigilant this year and vote for the NDC and kick the NPP out of government so that the struggles they have put us in will leave.

"On election day, before you cast your vote, consider your condition of living and cast a good ballot," he said.

He criticised the NPP for not creating jobs yet slowing down businesses due to a struggling economy.

Mr Mahama said the current state of the economy has ruined families when people can not afford commodity.

“Today, businesses really don’t go well as it should, business is running slow because of the difficult financial situation we face currently as a country," he said.

He reiterated his plans of initiating the One Million Job Plan which he said will create jobs for the teaming youths who make up a greater number of the population.

The former President said that Ghana cannot afford to have its young graduates into a jobless economy.

This programme, he noted, will help to create 250,000 jobs each year of his first term in office.

“Our plans include an aggressive job and entrepreneurial programme in the public and private sector; that will deliver a minimum of 250,000 jobs every year.

“A total of 1,000,000 jobs across the country by the end of my term in office in 2024. We will put Ghanaians to work to earn a decent living,” Mr Mahama said.

He also promised to introduce far-reaching reforms to fight corruption if elected President in the December polls.
