Security at Shini in the Tatale District has been beefed up following clashes between two factions in the Northern Region over what is suspected to be a chieftaincy feud.
Two people who sustained gunshots wounds are receiving treatment at the Zabzugu Health Center, the police have confirmed.
According to the police, four houses and a corn mill was set on fire amidst the clash.
The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Bernard Baba Ananga, who confirmed the incident to JoyNews said they suspect that the violence was triggered by the upcoming enskinment of one Kwadjo Kpeli as Chief of Shieni.
Supt Baba Ananga said residents of the community have fled to join family and friends elsewhere.
He added that the two persons who sustain injuries - Joseph Chimeya, 35, and three-year-old, Markanyi Wayeh, are responding to treatment at the Zabzugu Health Center.
According to him, one of the victims, Mr Chimeya, is assisting them with investigations.
He said the situation is now under control and calm has been restored urging residents to go back home.
Superintendent Ananga noted that police and military patrols would continue to be around until further notice.
