The president of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has entreated all political parties and supporters to exude peace and unity in the lead up to the general elections.
Dr Joseph Obeng who was commissioning a regional branch of the Association in the Central Region, warned that trading activity and the supply of goods and services will be disrupted should violence erupt before, during and after the knife-edged elections.
“It should be noted that businesses are the most affected in the event of any civil unrest that may destabilise the country.
"Ghana should not be looked down upon for few recalcitrant politicians to toy with the lives of the majority of Ghanaians.
"Already devastated by the coronavirus pandemic, we cannot afford any further disaster,” he warned.
The Central Regional Branch of GUTA is expected to streamline activities of the trading community there and as well decentralise various programs and enabling-trading tools needed for the survival and competitiveness of traders in the said region.
