Ghana will face Sudan for the second time in five days knowing that victory will secure qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The two teams faced each other on Thursday with Ghana winning 2-0 thanks to a brace by captain Andre Ayew.
The game will be played at the Hilal stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum on Tuesday, November 17 at 13:00GMT.
Match Preview
The Black Stars will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2021 AFCON which will be held in Cameroon if they beat Sudan. The four-time AFCON winners have a perfect record in Group C so far, winning three out of three games without conceding.
Coach Charles Akonnor will expect a better performance from his side after spending a lot more time with the team. Ghana are starting to pick form under their new 4-2-3-1 system, winning two consecutive games against Qatar and Sudan.
Sudan’s struggles are still well documented with the North African side picking just one win in their last five games.
Coach Hubert Velud is still struggling to make his Sudanese side compact, conceding eight goals in the last five games.
The Sudan project looks like a work in progress but results need to start counting soon and a loss against Ghana could compound Velud’s woes.
Sudan need a win to keep their hopes of qualifying to the 2021 AFCON alive, but goals have not been easy to come by under Velud.
Ghana form: W-W-L-W-W
Sudan form: W-L-D-D-L
Team News
Akonnor goes into this game with a number of concerns with first choice goalkeeper Richard Ofori absent due to accumulated yellow cards and Andre Ayew missing due to a muscle strain.
However, Akonnor will be glad to have Majeed Ashimeru, Mubarak Wakaso and Jeffrey Schlupp back in the squad.
Legon Cities goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has also replaced the suspended Ofori in the squad.
Samuel Owusu limped off against Sudan last Thursday, but is among the squad that traveled and is in contention to feature in Omdurman.
Sudan on the other hand do not have any reported injury or suspension concerns.
Coach Velud might have to make more changes to his system to accommodate the sharp Ghana attack. The task at hand is for Velud to find the right balance knowing that three points against the Black Stars could throw them back into the mix of qualification.
Atahir Eltahir, came on as a second half substitute and impressed and could possibly be in line to start.
Sudan Predicted XI (4-3-3): Abu-Eshrein; Merghani, Suliman, Elnour, Abdalla; Nasr Omar, Abuaagla, Al-Rasheed; Ramadan Agab, Abdelrahman, Al-Tash.
Ghana Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ofori; Nettey, Boye, Djiku, Baba; Wakaso, Acquah; Owusu, Ashimeru, Fosu, J. Ayew.
Sudan vs Ghana Prediction
With qualification in sight, the Black Stars will be charged up and the message from Akonnor will be to secure qualification as early as possible.
Even without talisman Andre Ayew who was the difference last time out, Ghana should still have enough quality in their side to beat Sudan who are ranked 128th in the world.
Ghana have won six of the last seven meetings against Sudan by a margin of at least two goals and the outcome of this match will most likely be a mirror image of what happened when both sides met in Cape Coast.
Sudan need all three points and have to open up as a result which will leave spaces at the back for Ghana to exploit.
Prediction: Sudan 0-3 Ghana
