Perhaps the highlight of today’s election petition hearing for most followers of the unfolding drama at the Supreme Court was the exchange between Justice Marful Sau and lead counsel for the Second Respondent, Akoto Ampaw.
After making his submission on why the petitioner, John Mahama, should not be allowed to reopen his case, the Justice said, “Mr Akoto Ampaw, I think you have to change your wig, it has lost its identity as a wig.”
This threw the rather serious courtroom into a frenzy as those there could not help it but burst into laughter at his comment.
In response Mr Ampaw, removed the wig to have another look at it and went ahead to put it back on his head.
Then he said, “My Lord, it gives it a unique identity.”
This comment attracted another round of laughter from those in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, the jovial exchange triggered some reactions on social media users.
