The National Democratic Congress has accused the spokesperson of the 2nd respondent, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and the New Patriotic Party’s Youth Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye of inciting the Supreme Court Judges against the Counsel for the Petitioner.
According to the NDC, the NPP team have used their media briefing after each court proceeding to launch attacks against the counsel for former President John Mahama and further incite the Court against the former Deputy Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine.
“Many NPP legal commentators in the Media, appear to take inordinate delight in belittling and heaping insults on Counsel for HE John Mahama and the NDC,” it said in a press release.
It added, “These attacks are characterised by constantly offering misleading comments about our lawyers and the case in court.
“We consider this persistent conduct of Hon. Oppong Nkrumah and Henry Nana Boakye and their surrogates as unbecoming of professional colleagues who have sworn to protect the ethics of their respected profession over and above partisan considerations.
“The Supreme Court exists to do justice fairly and squarely to all citizens irrespective of political colours, and to attempt to incite the Court against our noble lawyers is to debase the Court's role and duty.”
The NDC has therefore condemned in no uncertain terms these acts by the NPP team to ‘demonise’ the Petitioner’s Counsel before the Supreme Court.
“The truth shall stand. The truth shall prevail,” it concluded.
