Two people have been seriously injured with four others sustaining minor injuries following the rainstorm that hit Chamba in the Nanumba North Municipality in the Northern Region.
The two have been transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment, while the four, according to Defense Minister-designate, Dominic Nitiwul, have been treated and discharged
"We were just lucky the incident happened in the evening, but if it were during the day, it would have been worse. We are happy that no one has died," he said.

Mr. Nitiwul expressed worry over the disruption of electricity supply which he said would affect the supply of water to the area, as all boreholes in the area have been mechanized.
"Once the community has their boreholes mechanised and there is no light. If it takes up to one week the disaster will be worse than what has happened," he explained.

He assured residents of his support in purchasing electricity polls to enable the Northern Electricity Distribution company begin work on restoring power to the area.
