Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was on the scoresheet for Legon Cities as the Royals were beaten 3-1 by the Black Stars in a friendly match ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
The game was played at the Accra Sports Stadium to test the fitness of both teams.
The side, which is full of locally-based stars, got the job done thanks to goals from Kwame Opoku, Mubarak Wakaso and Salifu Moro.
Gyan got the consolation for the Royals from the penalty spot, registering his first second goal for his new side with both goals coming in friendlies.
The fixture was set up by Akonnor to help choose his starters for the upcoming clash against South Africa.
They will battle Bafana Bafana on 25th March in Johannesburg and host Sao Tome and Principe three days later.
