Spokesperson for Vice President Dr Bawumia, Dr Gideon Boako says steps taken to end the water crisis in Walewale are near completion.
Speaking on the Prime Morning Show, Dr Gideon Boako stated that the department of Community Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Water and Sanitation is in charge of resolving the challenge.
"The Ghana Community Water and Sanitation outfit of the ministry has been working on that and I am reliably informed that they have gone far with the restoration of water to the communities affected in the Walewale township and the school will soon have water supply," he told Daniel Dadzie.
He further stated that some reports available to him from the Sanitation Ministry's outfits say technical problems that have to do with pipelines is responsible for hindering the provision of water to these communities in the West Mamprusi Municipal, including Walewale.
The present water shortage in West Mamprusi Municipal has affected the activities of most households but the most hit are the Senior High Schools located in the region.
In a report filed by JoyNews' correspondent Eliasu Tanko, the lack of water has resulted in students in various Technical and Vocational schools having to journey at night in search of water for their basic activities.
Although Dr Gideon Boako has been unable to state the exact time the issue will be resolved, he stated that "checks with the Community Water and Sanitation unit is that they are almost close to solving the problem."
