The Tema Regional Police Command has re-arrested seven out of 12 suspects who escaped from police custody on Sunday.
Some 12 culprits on April 4, fled the Zenu-Atadeka District Police after one Aziz Fuseini attacked a police officer with hot porridge, allowing 11 other suspects who were in detention to escape.
According to Acting PRO, C/Insp Stella Dede Dzakpasu, the suspect, Aziz Fuseini who had been arrested on a bench warrant was being sent into his cell when the unfortunate incident occurred.
However, in a press statement dated April 8, the Tema Regional Police Command has indicated that it has been able to apprehend seven out of the total who escaped.
Out of the seven rearrested, "six of them have been convicted by the Ashaiman Circuit Court on their own plea, on charges related to their escape from lawful custody."

Also, three out of the six who have been convicted according to Inspector Dzakpasu where picked up the same day of escape from a hideout at Kuberkrom No.2 while the others were captured at Juapong in the Volta Region due to assistance from the general public.
The seventh arrested suspect, Sumaila Karim, 21, as stated in the press statement surrendered to the police on April 8, 2021, and will also "be arraigned before the court for escaping from lawful custody."
The remaining five prisoners yet to be recaptured are:
(i) Richard Remeo, 30, dark in complexion, slim and about 5'10 tall
(ii) Sulemana Ibrahim, 23, dark in complexion, stout and about 5'5 tall
(iii) Abu Sadique, 29, fair in complexion, stout and about 5'6 tall
(iv) Ibrahim Fuseini, 26, dark in complexion and about 5'10 tall and
(v) Aziz Fuseini, 38, dark in complexion, slim and about 5;11 tall.
Meanwhile, the Tema Regional Police Command has iterated its commitment to re-arrest the remaining five suspects and is calling on the general public to relay information on their whereabouts to the police.
"The Tema Regional Police Command therefore calls on the general public and any person with credible information leading to the arrest of any of the escaped prisoners to report to the Police," it concluded.
