The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a new set of instructions to Ghanaians who wish to travel in or out of the country.
The Ministry in a statement has asked Ghanaians to either cancel or postpone non-essential travels especially to countries with high cases of Covid-19.
“... especially in Asia and South America, the Ghana Health Service wishes to advise the general public to either cancel or postpone all non-essential travels to countries with exceedingly high Covid-19 infection rate,” the statement said.
This comes shortly after Frontier Healthcare Services, the company responsible for Covid-19 testing at the Kotoka International Airport raised alarm over a new surge in positive Covid-19 cases at the airport.
The Ministry, therefore, has asked "all passengers arriving from designated Covid-19 hot spots and testing negative at the airport to subject to a repeat test on the third day of arrival at their cost."
The statement added that "only test results or certificates bearing trusted travel or biomass codes will be considered valid for travel out of Ghana.
Further, travelers have been directed to "sign up for accounts on (trustedtravel.panabios.org) with the same e-mail address and mobile numbers provided to laboratories during testing."
"All arriving passengers who test negative for COVID-19 at the airport are encouraged to self-isolate for ten days," it added."
