Vanessa Bryant is honoring what would have been her late daughter Gianna’s 15th birthday by launching a clothing line in her memory.
In an Instagram post on April 30, Vanessa shared the debut of the new Mambacita collection, which will feature unisex and kids’ clothing.
The promotional photoshoot, which includes all of Vanessa’s children, features a tie-dye sweatshirt and pants set, with the word “Mambacita” emblazoned across the front in large text.
The pants also feature the number 2, which was Gigi’s number while playing basketball. All proceeds from the clothing line will go toward the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, the organization that was launched in Gigi and Kobe Bryant’s memory following the helicopter crash in January 2020 that resulted in their death.
The nonprofit aims to support sports opportunities for underserved youth and empower young athletes, thus continuing Kobe and Gigi’s legacy.
In addition to sharing the new clothing line, Vanessa shared a touching tribute to Gianna, who would have turned 15 on May 1.
Alongside an old photo of the mother-daughter pair, Vanessa wrote a touching letter to her late daughter. “Dear Gianna, Happy 15th Birthday! ❤️😘I love you! I miss you everyday! I wish you were here with us. There are no words to express how much I miss you. I love you Mamacita!” She ended the post with a few hashtags: #15, #Quincenera, #Mambacita, and #Principessa.
Since Kobe and Gigi’s death last year, Vanessa has continued to keep their memories alive. Last month, she shared a touching tribute for what would have been her 20-year wedding anniversary with Kobe, and she honored what would have been Gigi’s 14th birthday last year with an equally moving post, writing, “Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you. You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday.”
She has also been outspoken about the non-linear journey of grief, becoming an advocate for others who have lost loved ones. “Grief is a messed up cluster of emotions,” Vanessa wrote in an Instagram post earlier this year.
“One day you’re in the moment laughing and the next day you don’t feel like being alive.” She went on to encourage others who are experiencing their own form of loss: “Find your reason to live. I know it’s hard. I look at my daughters and I try to push through that feeling for them. Death is guaranteed but living the rest of the day isn’t. Find your reason.”
