A 76-year-old prophetess of the Mount Zion Prayer Ministry has been burnt to ashes at Komenda in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem District of the Central Region.
Margaret Amissah died when the house she was sleeping in caught fire at 2am on Thursday.
Central Regional Public Relations officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, D03 Abdul Hudu Wasiu, says personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service were alerted that a house has caught fire at a location in Komenda.
He further explains that upon reaching the scene, they found out that some of the apartments at the church premises were on fire.
Abdul Hudu Wasiu says the firefighters tried relentlessly to stop the fire from spreading to the other houses but unfortunately the woman got trapped in the house and was totally burnt.
“When we got there, she was already burnt beyond recognition,” he said.
The Fire Service PRO says preliminary investigations revealed the candle the deceased was using in the room when the lights were out could be what may have started the fire.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation.
