The third edition of the Luv FM High School Debate has received endorsements from high-profile Ghanaian society personalities.
Beginning Monday, 16 senior high schools in the Ashanti Region will battle wits in debating national and global issues.
The stage is set for future orators to display their debating prowess, built around confidence, intellect and pride.
The excitement is already up for the High School Debate as some dignified personalities have lauded and expressed support for the educational initiative.
They include the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah; Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi; Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof Ellis Owusu-Dabo and CEO of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Kenneth Ashigbey.
“Harnessing the skills of the youth in the form of a debate is the best thing you can get, and I urge all of you to participate, tune in and listen,” Mr Ashigbey said.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah also wished “the organisers, the students and the resource persons of the High School Debate a success”.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof Owusu-Dabo, encouraged all interest groups in the educational sector to participate in the event.
After a fierce preliminary involving close to 80 senior high schools, the Luv FM High School Debate has reached the Round of 16, happening from May 31 to July 7, when the best debating school will be crowned.
The first contest will be between Adventist Girls Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Kumasi, who won in the maiden edition.
The second contest will see the defending champions, St. Jerome Senior High School, debating Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS.
“I endorse and call on all major stakeholders to support it for it to stay,” said Kumasi Mayor; Osei Assibey Antwi.
The debate will be live on Luv FM, JoyPrime and Joy Learning Channels on MultiTv.
