The Bono East Regional Minister, Kwesi Adu Gyan has cut sod for the construction of the deplorable Tanoboase-Yefri road in the Nkoranza North District.
The move forms part of government's efforts towards ensuring that major road networks across the Region see massive improvements for the smooth transportation of people and goods.
The 15.2 kilometer Tanoboase to Yefiri road, which will receive Bituminous Surfacing (Tarred), construction of bridges, culverts and drains, is being constructed at the cost of GH¢27 million under the COCOBOD’s Cocoa Roads Project.
Speak at a short program to kickstart the project, the Minister called on the contractor to engage the services of local residents to create temporary jobs for the youth of the area.

Mr. Adu Gyan added that "good roads are very critical to the development agenda of the President, for which reason he declared the year 2020 as ‘Year of Roads’."
"Let me use the opportunity to assure Nananom and the good people of the Bono East Region that the region is receiving its share of the projects with the award of contracts for the construction of a number of roads. I am very hopeful that this project will be completed on schedule and at a very high quality."

He charged the contractor, Messrs. J. Arthur Complex Limited, to work towards ensuring that the road stands the test of time after completion by providing the best of services.
"Let me state clearly, as Regional Minister, together with Nananom and the people who will benefit from the construction of this road, that, we will not accept any poor quality work done. We will not accept that after few years of construction of this road, potholes will develop all over. Give us quality road that will serve us for a long time to justify the cost of the project," he added.

Nana Sarpong Kumankoma, who stood in for the Akwamuhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council expressed gratitude to the President and the Regional Minister and assured of the people's readiness to "accommodate the contractor and his workers throughout the project".
