A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women's Organiser for the Bolgatanga Central constituency has died in a road accident on Sunday.
Esther Lariba Atia, who is also the Vice Principal in Charge of Administration at the Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH), died on the spot after her car veered off the road somersaulted into a ditch.
According to witnesses, Madam Atia was driving around the office of the Volta River Authority (VRA) off the Bolgatanga-Navrongo Highway when a motor rider crossed her car.
In the quest to prevent crashing into the motorcyclist, the NPP Women’s Organiser lost control of her vehicle and somersaulted several times and eventually landing on its roof.
Madam Atia died on the spot, whereas the lady riding the motorbike sustained various degrees of injuries.
The injured lady was then rushed to the Bolgatanga Government Hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
The body of the late principal has been deposited at the hospital for postmortem and preservation.
