US-based Ghanaian musician, Humphrey Tetteh, has revealed that his awful Covid experience inspired his 'Wayeyi' song, which features gospel singer MOG.
He believes his recovery from the deadly virus was an ideal reason to appreciate God nothing that he lost loved ones through Covid -19.
Recounting his ordeal, he said, “Honestly speaking, I got the Covid-19, I was sick, and it was extremely bad, I lost two friends from the disease, but I made it, so this is my way of saying thank you to God.”
Speaking to Joy News’ Doreen Avio on why he settled on MOG music for the collaboration on his song 'Wayeyi', Humphrey said he appreciates his roots and talent.
“I am not looking for a gospel star in the US to do collaborations with. I prefer doing collaborations with Ghanaian artistes because charity begins at home, and I want to appreciate where we came from
Humphrey Tetteh is best known for his indigenous and contemporary blend of gospel music and his creative stagecraft, and his appeal to a global audience.
He has always loved music, so by the age of 18, he was already playing music and performing in churches in Ghana until he moved to the United States.
In November 2017, he put together a unique group of vocalists birthing the group - Radical Worshippers who would help him lift the Name of Jesus through worship.
The group held their debut concert (dubbed ‘Radical Worship’) that same year. Also, that same year he released his first EP dubbed ‘ADOM’ (Grace).
In 2021 Tettey received 4 nominations at Ghana Music Awards USA for 4 major categories: U.S. Based Gospel Song of the Year, U.S. Based Gospel Artiste of the Year, the U.S. Based Male Artiste of the Year and finally, U.S. Based Male Vocalist of the year.
He took home the award for U.S. Based Male Vocalist of the Year after a riveting performance of a medley of Ghanaian songs of praise.
He has released songs like ‘My Gratitude’, 'Running Back', ‘Thanks’, 'My God is Good', ‘Adom’ (Grace), and Wayeyi.
