Renowned journalist, Kwame Sefa Kayi, has encouraged young people to make good use of the opportunities offered by the internet.
He said the internet has proven to be a powerful resource to the world, and young people must be guarded in the activities they undertake online.
On Tuesday, Kwame Sefa Kayi, speaking at the second session of the 13th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), reminded the youth that the internet also had dangerous sides.
"I entreat all of you today to look or relook your relationship with the internet. If you had did [pursue]communication, it would serve as a ready tool of information. Be careful what you put there. Be careful what you look out for there. Be careful what you find there.
"If you're looking for knowledge, if you are looking for new skills, if you are looking for talents, if you are looking for new avenues, you will find it there. But if you're also looking for gossip, sensationalism and salacious information, I'm sure you'd find it there too," he said.
With graduate unemployment rising at an alarming rate in the country, the award-winning broadcaster cautioned the UPSA graduating class against having high expectations.
He urged them not to despise small beginnings, adding that they should 'challenge themselves, accept whatever situation they find themselves in, howbeit, not remaining there.'
"Many young people today have a sense of entitlement. You leave school, and you think the world owes you a job. It is not that easy," he expressed.
"I, therefore, entreat all of you to go out there with very few expectations but with a diligent application of hard work, more hard work and even more hard work. It is the only way," Mr Kayi added.
UPSA's 13th Congregation ceremony saw hundreds of students bow out from the University. The four-day event is scheduled to end on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
