Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament's Education Committee, Dr. Clement Apaak has stated that, President Akufo-Addo's explanation with regard to the abandoned E-block projects is insufficient.
President Akufo-Addo stated on Accra based Peace FM on Thursday that government is working on completing the E-block projects. He explained that the projects have not been abandoned.
However, speaking on The Pulse on Thursday, Dr Apaak stated that the Akufo-Addo led government has ignored the demands of Ghanaians who are would be beneficiaries of the E-block projects.
According to him, upon receiving numerous complaints, the Minority visited these sites to see for themselves the state of the E-blocks. He noted that to their shock, three (3) out of the six (6) E-blocks had been abandoned.
“The other three are in various stages of completion. We saw one that was about 40% complete, we saw one that is about 90% complete and one is fully complete but has not been put to use. So when the President tells us that they are working on completing these projects and they’ve not been abandoned, then it clearly shows that he is out of touch with the reality on the ground” Dr Apaak said.
He reiterated that the committee would like government to specifically state the number of E-blocks that have been worked on and which ones have been put to use.
He also asserted that government has not been sincere with accounting to the people.
“We have come to the conclusion that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led government is insincere. They have tended to be dismissive, even insult citizens for asking them to account and do the needful. So the only course we can resort to is to use every legitimate tool available to us as law abiding citizens and a responsible opposition, to seek the needed answer” he added.
