Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is unhappy about the over two-hour delay legislators had to endure before the presentation of the Budget for 2022.
Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, according to Mr Ablakwa was expected to have commenced reading of the budget at 10:00 on Wednesday.
However, as of 12 noon, MPs had not been briefed on the way forward.
Taking to social media, he held the view that this unacceptable conduct goes to prove that "time is not money & productivity has a different definition" in the country.
The North Tongu legislator added that this "must change about our country."
One of the intractable cankers that must change about our country — MPs are asked to report for the Budget presentation at 10am & more than 2 hours after, we are still waiting in our seats.

I guess in our Republic time is not money & productivity has a different definition. Sad!
Reports from JoyNews revealed that Mr Ofori-Atta was in Parliament at 10:45am. The Finance Minister began presentation of the budget 2022 few minutes after 1:00pm, following the arrival of Speaker Alban Bagbin into the chamber.
Prior to the reading of the budget, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta had indicated that job creation and entrepreneurship will feature prominently in the 2022 budget.
According to him, government is committed to putting in place those measures that will help deal with the unemployment situation in the country as well as recent challenges with the employment of fresh graduates for the public sector.
The Minister added that “I don’t think we can wait any longer, because the time is now on how to create an entrepreneurial state and deal with this issue once and all.”
“Certainly the issues of youth and jobs will be the center of this budget presentation,” the Minister added.
