Give Me Hope Foundation, in collaboration with Glimmer of Hope Foundation, AIM Ghana, and supporting partners, reached out to the Chorkor community and its environs to assist the underprivileged.

The programme dubbed the ‘Smiles With Street Children Outreach’ programme was fun-packed with so many activities, including; free health screening, free medication, mentorships, food, clothes, drink bazaar, games, and entertainment and specific items for nursing mothers.

The programme brought together scores of underprivileged members from the community to benefit immensely.

In an interview, the founder and CEO of Give Me Hope Foundation, Wisdom Dordoe, noted that the NGO was set up to be the voice for children and the less privileged in society to restore hope and inspire lives for the underprivileged into greatness.

Glimmer of Hope Foundation CEO, Ernestina Mensah said the NGO was set up to reach out to the less privileged in society and, most importantly, alleviate poverty by providing education to children and giving them a sense of belongingness.

She believes educating children is the key to stopping the cycle of poverty and providing quality human capital to society.

Gladys Biney of AIM Ghana added that “We are not relenting on what we have set out to do, though it has always been difficult mobilising for such a worthy cause, throughout our activities, we have been able to reach out to many communities across the country and we seek to continue."

"The over 200 children who were not in school or were school drop-outs were registered during the program and plans are underway to get them back to school and provide the necessary support," Mr Dordoe said.

Vice President of Give Me Hope Foundation, Dr Gloria Amegatcher, said the health screening, which was centred on malaria screening, hepatitis B, Haemoglobin, Glucose Levels, anemia, waist pains, malnutrition in children, was one of the foundations’ activities, which was free to children in the slums due to the difficulties in getting medical check-up.

The program was attended by invited dignitaries such as; Ablekuma South Constituency MP, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, current President of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Affail Monney, and Chief of the community, who congratulated the various NGOs for the kind gesture and appealed to other NGOs, and corporate bodies and institutions to come to the aid of the less privileged in society to provide education for children and put some smiles on their faces.

Wisdom Dordoe and the collaborators expressed gratitude to the entire team for giving their best in seeing the project through, not forgetting their partners; Pato Suppressors foundation, Tim No Boss Barbering College, DOSK Foundation and Ade-Daa’s Consulting Investment.
