Former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, believes the football association and the government need to work hand-in-hand if the GFA are to function effectively and efficiently.
The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports are believed to have interfered strongly in decision making within the GFA over the last few years, with the Chris Hughton saga the recent to have been made public.
However, Nyantakyi, who once served as the FA boss says it is important for both parties to have a common understanding of what needs to be done if they are to achieve the needed results.
"Government needs the football association as much as the association also needs the government," the former CAF vice president said on GTV Sports Plus.
"FIFA has admonished the FAs to cooperate with governments to develop football but the interference is condemned so I will preach that as long as possible. The government should tolerate and cooperate with the football association.
"The province of each of them must be clearly circumscribed so the government knows what they can and cannot do."
The GFA have appointed a new technical team for Ghana's crucial World Cup qualifier play-off against Nigeria next month.
