Former Member of Parliament for Mampong has called on the leadership of the governing NPP to prevent the party from courting bad press if they want to ‘break the eight’.
Francis Addai-Nimoh says the grave but preventable infractions that continuously drag the party's image into disrepute are troubling.
According to him, the events that appear horrifying of 2020 that masked the party's primaries are being replayed in 2022.
“I find it unacceptable that these matters would be happening in defiance of clear guidelines issued by the national party. It appears the horrifying events of 2020 that masked the party's primaries are being replayed in 2022.
“The events are troubling as we have witnessed instances of violence in some constituencies,” he said.
Addai-Nimoh calls on the party leadership to sanction members who drag the party's image into disrepute as violence is witnessed in some constituencies.
He cites some constituencies such as New Juabeng South, Mampong, Manhyia North among others that have been hotspots for the grave infractions.
“The main controversy is the boarding of forms to prevent interested aspirants from filing their nomination, an issue I have been a victim of, in the past.
"The struggles of the party currently in parliament is a sequel of the 2020 primaries and we can't afford not to take lessons from it accordingly."
There are reported cases of misunderstanding in some constituencies of the party, members are unable to seek nomination forms for the polling station executive election.
At the Kwadaso for instance, the police had to intervene to release the forms to members.
