Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, known by the stage name Amerado, says he will be disappointed if he does not win the award for best rap performance at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
However he mentioned that amongst all the categories he was nominated for, he has eyes the best rap performance category after he missed out on that award last year to Eno.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, he said “of course, I am human if I don’t win, I will be disappointed.”
Nevertheless, the rapper expressed his appreciation to the award scheme for his nomination.
The “Abotrɛ” hitmaker also voiced out his excitement for his growth and consistency in the music industry. Especially for being nominated in the Best Rap Performance category for the second time in a row.
He also spoke about the reason why he didn’t win it the first time he got the nomination in 2021.
“Last year was my first time, one thing is I’m very happy about my consistency and I have been very active in the game for the past two years and I am so happy for being nominated in the best rap performance category”
Amerado, who gained a nomination in the Best Rap Performance category for his song “Best Rapper” at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, gained another nomination in the same category for his song “The Throne”,
It was released in 2021 as reply to a “diss” song aimed at him by his colleague rapper, Obibini, who was also nominated.
He revealed that his aim is to always make it to the 'Best Rap Performance' category.
“I was so happy to be nominated in that category simply because that is one of the categories that I always aim to be nominated for even if I don’t win,” he told Andy Dosty on Thursday.
