On Wednesday, April 27, the Bono East Regional Qualifiers of the 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) commenced.
Four contests were held and 23 schools participated. The prize at the end of the day was four slots at the national championship.
Contest 1 featured Kintampo SHS, Kwarteng Ankomah SHS, New Konkrompe SHS, Abeaseman SHS, Busunya SHS and Yeboah Asuamah SHS.
It was an easy ride for Kintampo SHS to secure a slot at the preliminary stage of the national championship. The other five contending schools struggled to end the race with a double-figure mark.
Kintampo SHS won the first contest with 33 points.
Contest 2 saw five schools compete. They are Atebubu SHS, Nkoranza SHTS, Amanten SHS, Prang SHS and Kajaji SHS.
Unlike the first, this contest proved to be challenging. Atebubu SHS emerged victorious.
However, its victory was due to a 2-mark margin between itself and Nkoranza SHTS.

Contest 3 was similar to Contest 1. The gap between the winning schools and the others was astounding.
Our Lady of Mt. Caramel Girls' SHS won the third contest.
The other schools that participated in the third contest were; Jema SHS, Osei Bonsu SHS, New Longoro SHS, Kwabre SHS and Kesse Basahyia SHS.
Unfortunately, New Longoro SHS ended the race with no points. Kwabre SHS and Kesse Basahyia SHS dipped further.
Contest 4 had six schools participating. They are Yeji SHTS, Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS, St. Francis Seminary SHS, Kwame Danso SHTS, Guakro Effah SHS and Gyarko Community Day SHS.
Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS emerged victorious at the end of the final race. With 48 points, they booked a national championship slot.
