President Akufo-Addo is expected to grace the grand durbar of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the University of Allied and Health Sciences (UHAS) in Ho on Friday, 15th July, 2022.

Management recently launched the anniversary at its Ho Teaching Hospital campus where the Hohoe campus of the University was named after Professor Fred Newton Binka the foundation Vice Chancellor of UHAS.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor John Gyapong told the audience that the 10th anniversary celebrations would be used to showcase the strides UHAS has made throughout the decade, notwithstanding its young age, hence the theme "Great Giant Rising".

He said academic performances in the University’s various colleges have seen progress over the years.

Professor Gyapong noted that the University is gradually developing with regard to infrastructure and the second phase project on its main campus at Sokode Lokoe in the Ho Municipality would give UHAS a massive facelift when completed.

It would be recalled that President Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 10th September, 2021, cut the sod for the commencement of work on the second phase of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) project.

The first phase of the University project was funded by the Chinese Government through its development Agency, China AID, at a cost of 104,850,000RMB (Chinese Yuan), equivalent to some $16 million.

Phase I of the project, which covered a total construction area of 10,386 meters square, was completed and handed over to the University about six years ago.

President Akufo-Addo said government recognises that, in spite of all the facilities present, the University still requires additional infrastructural projects in order to effectively deliver on its mandate.

He explained during the sod cutting ceremony that the Ministers for Education and Finance worked in unison with the University's Management to secure funding from the Chinese government, to the tune of $60Million, for the commencement of the second phase of the expansion project.

Aside from gracing the grand durbar of 10th anniversary celebrations, President Akufo-Addo will also commission some projects at the University.
