The Minority says it will not allow government to rush through the House, a €140 million facility to construct an interchange and ancillary facilities in Suame in the Ashanti Region.
The agreement was laid before the House just a day after some residents of Suame protested and nearly attacked their MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Majority Leader.
According to Minority Spokesperson on Roads and Transport, Kwame Governs Agbodza, MPs still do not have enough copies of the loan agreement to peruse and consider.
"It was laid yesterday but as we speak nobody has got a copy of that, so the question is, has it actually been laid?... we are just hoping that nobody comes to tell us that within one day we should read those documents and pass it," he told the press on Wednesday.
He insisted that Parliament needs over a week to consider the content of the bill.
"By the way, we are rising on the 20th," he added.
Kwame Agbodza also alleged that the protest in Suame may have been staged to force government to act.
He says if that is not the case, the IGP must cause the arrest of the protesters just as they went after Madina MP, Francis-Xavier Sosu who also organized a demonstration over poor roads in his constituency.
