Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng, says the technical team will only disclose information about Asamoah Gyan after they have spoken with the player.
Gyan, in an interview with BBC last month, revealed his intentions to return to the national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, though he admits he will first need to be fit and start playing consistently.
The former Black Stars captain has already commenced work on getting back to his best as he seeks to achieve his target.
Quizzed on Gyan's comments, Boateng said, "Out of respect for the player [Gyan] and a friend of mine as a person, I will prefer to discuss this issue with him in person, rather than sharing with the outside world. We haven’t spoken to Gyan yet so we will not disclose anything until we have spoken to the player himself.”
With 51 goals in 109 appearances for the national team, Boateng says the technical team can only 'applaud the achievement' of Ghana's all-time top scorer.
“We as staff have so much respect for Gyan. As a player and person, he is a very good friend of mine and what he has done for Ghana is amazing. Top goal scorer, six goals at the World Cup, it’s amazing. You can only applaud his achievement."
Gyan was not included in Otto Addo's 29-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.
