The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) says it has made progress after contracting four private debt collectors to aid in the retrieval of its loans disbursed to beneficiaries.
In the first quarter of this year, the centre indicated that out of about ¢204 million disbursed, it was able to retrieve ¢90 million, representing 45% of the amount.
But speaking to Joy Business at a training for staff on a nationwide digitalisation rollout, Chief Executive of MASLOC, Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakaria, indicated that progress has been made so far with the recovery drive and her outfit is set to announce same.
“So far, we are on course with our recovery drive because we have devise means of taking money”, She said.

The Masloc CEO added “In the past, we were doing recoveries just by ourselves, but right now we have gotten private companies who are debt collectors”
“Four of them and we’ve zone the country into four and they are also assisting us in the recovery. So very soon, we are coming to report our progress.”
Meanwhile, she said the training for staff on a nationwide digitalisation rollout seeks to integrate MASLOC’s activities from disbursement to repayment
