Some Minority Members of Parliament have asked their New Patriotic Party (NPP) counterparts to name the wealthy businessman who allegedly tried to persuade them to soften their stance against Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
The NDC MPs are; Ashiaman MP, Ernest Norgbey, Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts Hagan and Buem MP, Kofi Adams.
According to the MPs, this will enable the public to know that the NPP MPs are not lying.
"If it is true, we want to know the businessman... people must be interested so they should tell us because this is a serious matter.
"A matter to do with the Finance Minister and you have taken this position and subsequently, a so-called wealthy businessman approach you, and you are telling us this without mentioning the name, I don't believe that cock and bull story," one of the NDC MPs said.
It would be recalled that some NPP MPs in an unprecedented move called for the sacking of the Finance Minister, and according to Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, a wealthy businessman tried to get them to change their stance.
This has been confirmed by the Spokesperson for the MPs, Asante Akim North MP Andy Appiah Kubi.
But whilst MPs from the governing party have remained tight-lipped about the identity of the individual, NDC MPs want the said businessman named for legal action to be taken against him.
According to the legislators, the Special Prosecutor must take interest in the incident. This, they said, is because the action by the businessman is contrary to the law.
"The so-called businessman must be investigated because he is trying to influence a public officer to drop a decision a public officer has taken in the interest of the nation,"
