A Political Scientist has touted former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen as a visionary leader that ought to be given an opportunity to steer the affairs of the country.
Dr Kwame Asah Asante came to this conclusion after scrutinising the policies the aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party wants to implement to develop the country.
He spoke on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday.
Citing Mr Kyerematen’s vision to reduce the size of government, the Political Scientist said the move will reduce government’s expenditure, thereby, easing the pressure on the public purse.
“On his plan of tackling corruption, we have tried the court and the law and it’s not working now we have the OSP. Let’s see what new he will bring on board and see the level he wants to take us to.
“With all that aside, from his rich experience and his innovative knowledge he can lead,” he said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Mr Kyerematen announced his decision to contest in the NPP primaries.
Addressing the nation for the first time since his resignation as Trade and Industry Minister, Mr Kyerematen outlined some seven pointers which he termed as the Great Transformation Plan (GTP).
The plan, he said, will transform the economic and social prospects of the country into a more sustainable one.
Looking back at his performance at the Trade and Industry Ministry, Dr Asante said Mr Kyerematen did his best for the country.
“As Trade and Industry Minister, he has done his best in terms of industrialisation because you can see some of the industries running,” he said.
