Bars of Chocolate, bouquets of flowers, love cards, and teddy bears were the order of the day.
The streets were dotted with hawkers who had switched their trades to selling valentine products to cash in on the season of love. The tradition of donning a red or any hue of red apparel to commemorate the day was however missing. The night of the season would see lovers toast to a long and healthy relationship.
February 14 is certainly the day many had patiently waited for to have their love spree.
But yet again, on the morn of Valentine’s Day, I found myself entangled in my usual thoughts of going about my daily chores without my ‘lover’. Yes, I agree it is a moment not only commemorated by lovers: families also rekindle their love for one another during such times. Your guess is as good as mine. I could have spent the day with family. But no, I am a grown man, I need a companion.
With no hope in sight to embrace this day with my partner, I joined the ‘Singles’ Association of Ghana’ to while away the season in quietude. My hopelessness led me to the busy streets of Lartebiokorshie - a suburb of Accra, where I was smacked out of my helpless delusion.

Behold! the sophisticated beauty of a creature, not only made from the rib of a man but his ingenuity, too. She stood graciously under the scorching sun radiating in all her glory. Her lustrous beauty blinded me and captivated my soul. Her bright bulging eyes locked mine in awe.
For minutes, I was oblivious to my surroundings. I had forgotten I was in the company of some friends. Her mesmerizing resplendence beckoned me over to have a feel of her. I moved closer to better appreciate the magnificent spectacle. As if that was not enough. I needed a physical touch so I stuck my hand out of my pocket and slid it down her frictionless skin. Blimey! My fingers ran smoothly on her shiny surface with a soft touch. She was indeed a bone of my bone and a flesh of my flesh.
Don’t be confused about how I could quickly approach her and begin touching her. She was calm and felt my pheromones, too.
I sought her name, and the inscription boldly and conspicuously written on her read - Solar Taxi. She was my means of transport to the ‘love’ land. She is one made out of the ordinary.

An artwork that is assembled to protect humanity and the ecosystem through a technological advancement. Her life depends on a clean and affordable energy to function. As her name denotes she harnesses the sun’s energy converted into electrical energy that runs through her webbed veins.
Unlike her friends, she oozes no poisonous gas [carbon monoxide] to live. My inanimate crush loves her environment and would never hurt nature. So her creator ensured her system would not be a threat to the biodiversity but rather a tool for a clean environment.
I just couldn’t have enough of her, so I sat on her ‘laps’ to enjoy a ride. Sadly, my ineptitude at driving a car gave me away. I couldn’t even locate the slot to slide in the keys. This is definitely not the end of my pursuit to have a good moment with my lover. At least, I’ve found one and will definitely go for my driving lessons to win her again.
Until then see you again on February 14 next year when I run you by another chronicle of how my lover and I eloped.
