Gospel musician Siisi Baidoo says there is nothing wrong with charging gate fees at Christian events.
He said this in response to comments made by senior colleague gospel musician Ernest Opoku who thinks that there should not be fees charged at Christian events before entry.
According to him, taking money from people before they patronize the auditorium of your events prevents those who truly need God’s favor from receiving their miracle.
“It is wrong for you to make money before people can enjoy your program,” Ernest Opoku told Hello FM in an interview.
However, Siisi Baidoo had a different view on the issue.
Speaking to Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, he mentioned that even though he does not charge gate fees at his concerts, he sees nothing wrong with it.
He added that he acts based on instructions given to him by the Holy Spirit.
“There is nothing wrong. It depends on what you’ve been directed to do. If we are doing a program and we have been directed by the Holy Spirit not to charge, we would not.
“I don’t charge at my concert because I have been directed not to.”
The Sunsum Kronkron hitmaker also pointed out that there is a need to cover costs when putting together concerts hence the reason why it’s not wrong to charge gate fees.
“There’s nothing wrong with taking gate fees because of the cost that goes into event planning. I am particularly keen on what God is saying about that particular event and what he intends to do and if anything will be a hindrance, I’ll take the thing away.
“It’s not because I have something against gate fees but it’s just the direction that God has given me,” he said.
Siisi Baido is a prolific gospel musician who has churned out songs like The Promise, Onyame Tumfo, and Kabiyesi amongst others.
He is currently promoting his single titled Sunsum Kronkron.
