The son of disgruntled NDC flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has lost his bid to become the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency of the Eastern Region.
Duffuor Jnr. lost the primary to one Hajia Nasira Afrah by a difference of 8 votes.
Nasira Afrah won with 211 votes, while Dr Duffour Jnr. got 203 votes.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Alex Adomako Mensah, polled only 86 votes.
The fourth contender, Professor Edward Brenyah garnered 65 votes.

Following his father's decision to withdraw from the presidential race after a botched injunction suit against the primaries, some had said Duffuor Jnr. may pay the price for his father's conduct.
At a press conference on Friday, Duffuor Snr. explained that his decision to withdraw from the race after he withdrew his lawsuit against the party, was based on his grievances with the processes surrounding the primaries; especially the voters' register.
According to him, the exercise has been marred by a lot of irregularities; a problem that has not been resolved by the leadership of the party.
